If you're traveling to Tallahassee, Florida this summer, there's much to see and do in town and around the area. Whether you're traveling for your next assignment or on a personal trip, think about taking advantage of some of these interesting and fun destinations.

Local Parks

Tallahassee has some excellent local parks – Cascades Park is one popular spot for visitors. 24 acres includes play areas for kids, trails, fountains and much more. Then there's the Alfred B. Macklay Gardens State Park on Thomasville Road with elegant floral gardens, and fishing and boating opportunities at nearby Lake Hall. It's all part of an extraordinary parks network that shows off what the Tallahassee area has to offer.

Museums

You can take the opportunity to learn about the area at the Tallahassee Museum where visitors can learn about history, local animals and more. There's also the Tallahassee Antique Car Museum, the Museum of Florida History, and the Florida Historic Capital Museum where you can learn about local government. Any of these popular museums can help you learn a little more about this exciting community.

Tallahassee Trails

Another way to get out and enjoy the scenery is the series of trails that intertwine around Tallahassee and the surrounding area. Go for a bike ride or go on foot to get a look at a lot more local scenery and take in the ambience of this popular Florida city. Some of these areas off the beaten path can be a peaceful, relaxing way to spend an afternoon.

Explore the Natural Area Around Tallahassee

Tallahassee is also unique in terms of where it's located – just next to the Apalachicola National Forest and situated not too far from Gulf of Mexico beaches.
If you have the time and the transportation, you can check out nearby Lake Talquin State Park, the Ochlockonee wildlife area, or go further into the vast state park network or take a trip to St. George Island or Alligator Point on the gulf.
