How to Become a Travel MRI Tech

If you are considering a career as an MRI tech, you will typically need an associate’s degree, although you may want to consider a bachelor’s degree, which may be considered more valuable to employers. Degree courses usually include anatomy, pathology, radiation physics and protection, image evaluation, and patient care. Your program should be accredited by the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) or The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

A few states require that MRI techs have a license, and most require that radiologic technologists have a license. Completing an accredited program is required for licensure in some states. Certification is available through the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
