What makes a successful traveler?
You should have strong clinical skills and a desire to learn. Once you begin to travel, it helps to maintain a positive and outgoing attitude. You'll have to adapt to new surroundings, so being flexible is key. If you consider new challenges an adventure, you're off to a great start because travel can be an exciting exploration with each new day.

Can you find me a job in a particular city?
We have the industry's largest selection of assignments, in a variety of settings and specialties. However, the needs of our client facilities change daily. Depending on your specialty, we may not have a position in your preferred city available, however, we'll do our best to get you where you want to go, or present you with other great opportunities.

Can I travel when I choose? Do I have to sign an annual contract?
The choice is always yours, and you'll never have to sign an annual contract. Decide when you want to travel and where you want to go, and when your assignment is completed, you'll have more choices awaiting you.

Do you want to…

  • Extend your contract at the current facility?
  • Go to another location and facility?
  • Return home, and travel again in the future?

Can you keep me working as a traveler?
If you are open-minded and flexible about travel assignments, and are willing to plan ahead and make a commitment, we feel confident that you’ll be working continuously.

Can I bring my family and/or pets?
Yes, you can. Many people have traveled with family, friends or pets – it's a great opportunity to explore the country together. You'll incur slightly higher costs for private housing and maybe a pet deposit. See the Housing section for more details.

If I don't use Cross Country housing, will I receive a housing allowance?
Yes, you will receive a monthly housing subsidy if you arrange and pay for your own housing. The subsidy varies, depending upon the city you will be living in.

What are the state licensing requirements for a travel assignment?
Your Licensure Specialist will assist you on the specific requirements in each state for every assignment. Visit our state-licensing page for more information on respiratory care practitioners, radiologic technologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists and medical laboratory technologists.

Can I speak with other travelers to get a better picture of travel healthcare?
Absolutely! This is one of the best ways to clarify if traveling is really for you. Who better than current travelers, to shed light on the entire travel healthcare experience? Simply ask your Recruiter to connect you with another traveler.
